September/October has to be one of the best times to travel, the days are warming up and best of all travel is relatively cheap!

Marking the beginning of Spring it brings along less rainfall and few school holidays for most of the month. Its a fantastic time to visit Australia's normally humid north and very hot centre.

We have compiled 3 great Aussie destinations that you can visit in Spring!

1) Coober Pedy, South Australia

Coober Pedy is a fascinating place with much of the towns dwellings underground, 50% of the resident resort to the under ground way of life to escape scorching heat above. You can tour these dwellings to get a feel for the local way of life and if you want to take that one step further you can even stay at the "Desert Cave Hotel" with 19 dugout rooms!

Coober Pedy is located approx 9 hours drive or a 2 hour flight from Adelaide and was originally built around the mining industry, it was known as the “Opal Capital of the World” Regional Express flies into Coober Pedy from Adelaide daily.

Visiting in Spring allows you the comfort of not having to stay underground and enjoying the beautiful clear skies!

It will be hard to resist the temptation of taking home one of the local gems that Coober Pedy is so famous for, the opals are very well priced.

If you are looking for a visit to a place like no other on this planet then its definitely worth the investment.

2) Kalbarri, Western Australia

Kalbarri is best known for its national parks with fiery gorges and unique rock formations such as 'Natures Window', Nature’s Window” frames a wonderful little portrait of the gorge-dissecting the Murchison river beyond, while the park also features a landscape that has been carved by the combination of weather and time to form some other remarkable shapes as well.

The renowned 'Z-Bend Tour' offers a spectacular panorama of gorge, river and red gum which gives you an overall feel for the scenery in the area.

Just off the coast expect to sight an abundance of marine life including regular visits by Dolphins. Chinamans Beach is also a fantastic place for snorkelling.

Rainbow Jungle is a surprisingly comprehensive avian attraction so if you are a bird lover this is a must do as its teeming with bird life.

Plus, of course, there is the local long-running spectacle of Pelican feeding where dozens of Pelicans are treated on the river foreshore with regular morning feeding sessions.

Kalbarri is located just over 600km from Perth and getting here can be challenging but there are regular flights to near by Geraldton and we think its well worth the visit to view some of the best scenery Western Australia has to offer.

3) Whitsundays, Queensland

The Whitsundays are widely considered the most amazing string of island without leaving Australia. This area is easily one of the top travel destinations in the country and there are few better times in the year to visit than Spring!

Often viewed as a premium only destination and reserved only for special occasions in an upmarket resort stay this does not have to be the case. You can base yourself at one of the many mainland hubs and take day trips to experience the islands or spend 1 or 2 nights as you see fit.

Visiting in early Spring will also save you money, travelling in summer although warmer will also see a big pike in the rate you pay which is why a Spring visit will give you the best of both worlds.

The Whitsundays is widely developed and caters to all travellers with the number of potential day tours, cruises, walking spots and snorkel/dive spots to visit being comprehensive.

Add in the diverse offerings of swankyHamilton Island, the exclusive and gorgeous Hayman Island and its signature One&Only resort, Daydream Island's excellent Living Reef attraction for the kids and even the more budget-friendly accommodations of Long Island, and choice is one of the Whitsundays’ best attractions.

Getting there is relatively easy with daily flights to Proserpine and Hamilton Island Airports.

International visitors travel around the world to see this magnificent stretch of islands so why not head up north and see whats in our own backyard!
